We all want clear skin, but nature can sabotage us with imperfections, especially as we age and sun damage accumulates. Fortunately, skin rejuvenation has advanced beyond the painful procedures of the past.

Dr. Omar Fouda’s Broadband Light Photofacial system offers comfortable and practical IPL photofacials for treating sun damage and visible veins.

What does IPL Photofacial Treatments in Riyadh entail?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial treatments offer a modern, non-invasive way to revitalize your skin by targeting pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and visible veins. With no downtime and minimal discomfort, IPL photofacial treatments in Riyadh are ideal for patients who want clearer, more radiant skin without resorting to aggressive or invasive procedures. Dr. Omar Fouda and his expert team use advanced Broadband Light (BBL) technology to deliver safe and highly effective results tailored to your skin type.
IPL Photofacial Treatments in Riyadh uses specialized handpieces filter light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength ideal for different treatments, such as sunspot removal and vessel clearance.

The handpieces emit pulses of light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in visible vessels and converted to heat. The heat dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels.

This process uses pulses of concentrated light to clear:

  • Sun damage: Wide areas of pigmentation on the face, chest, and arms.
  • Sunspots: Individual pigmented lesions, also known as age spots.
  • Rosacea: General inflammation of the cheeks and face.
  • Spider Veins: Individual vessels that can be red, blue, or purple.

How is the Broadband Light different from a laser?

Broadband Light systems are typically very similar to lasers. However, the system used at our clinic has a much larger treatment window than most lasers. This spreads light over a wider skin area and allows faster skin coverage. As a result, our photo facial patients experience quicker treatments and faster results.

What body areas can I get treated?

Any area can be treated except directly around the eyes. The face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs can all be treated.

What happens during the IPL photofacial procedure?

The IPL photofacial procedure is a quick, outpatient treatment performed in the comfort of Dr. Fouda’s clinic in Riyadh. Before the session begins, your skin will be cleansed and a cool gel may be applied to enhance comfort and ensure optimal light transmission. Protective eyewear is provided to shield your eyes from the intense light pulses.

Using a specialized handheld device, the technician delivers precise pulses of Broadband Light (BBL) to the treatment area. You may feel a mild snapping or warming sensation as the light penetrates the skin—most patients find it tolerable, and numbing cream can be applied if needed. The light energy targets pigmented cells and blood vessels, which absorb the light and gradually break down.

The procedure typically takes 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. Once the session is complete, a soothing cream or cold compress may be applied to minimize any redness or warmth. There is no need for downtime, and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

What are the benefits of IPL photofacial treatments?

  • Reduces sun damage, age spots, and pigmentation irregularities
  • Treats rosacea and facial redness effectively
  • Eliminates visible spider veins and broken capillaries
  • Improves skin tone, clarity, and texture
  • Stimulates collagen production for long-term rejuvenation
  • Safe, quick, and non-invasive with minimal recovery time

What should I expect and how is the recovery like after treatment?

Immediately after treatment, you can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by minor swelling. This usually lasts 2 – 24 hours and is soothed by cold gel or ice packs.

Sunspots/Sun Damage: The sunspots will darken after treatment and naturally shed from the skin within 1 – 2 weeks.

Rosacea: Skin tone will be more normal, with less pronounced redness within a week after treatment.

Spider Veins: Vessels may disappear after treatment or appear darker and then fully or partially fade within 10 – 14 days. Typically, our photofacial patients need several treatments to completely clear sunspots, rosacea, and blood vessels.

You can resume your daily activities right away, but it’s important to avoid sun exposure and wear broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) diligently, as your skin will be more sensitive to UV light. For optimal results, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart is often recommended, depending on your skin concerns and goals.

Who is an ideal candidate for IPL photofacial treatments?

Ideal candidates are individuals with light to medium skin tones who experience sun damage, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, broken blood vessels, or uneven skin tone. It’s also ideal for those seeking skin rejuvenation without surgery or prolonged downtime. Patients should be in good health, not pregnant, and avoid recent tanning or strong retinoid use prior to treatment. A consultation with Dr. Fouda will determine whether IPL photofacial treatments in Riyadh are the right fit for your skin goals.
